An Ode to Greatness

Yes, we heard you, our deadlines don’t stick.
You’re sick of that picture, our blog doesn’t tick
While excuses are plenty, you came here for prose
So we’ll skip the excuses and save you our woes.

You’re probably thinking, “This rhythm I know”
Dr Suess writes like this, is this the Doc’s Flow?
To you we say yes, and kindly explain
That all those Seuss stories can re-boot the brain.

We didn’t intend to keep rhyming like clones
But all that tautology penetrated our bones
And we know that this will only be the beginning of “more”!
As Carli and Joseph round the corner on four.

Have four years flown by? Can it really be so?
Well, when the kids talk like teenagers then we really know
That one thousand four hundred and sixty good days
have molded our pair in so many great ways.

Take Carli, for instance, our prodigal she
With a memory dating back to when she was wee
As she looks at an octopus and remembers quite well
That that was her first word, and boy do we kvell

Then in the same sentence she will declare with conviction
That she “refuses to work under these bad conditions”
Then on with the dress up, all princess and and bling
And applies her fake make up with a natural zing.

Our Joseph, a man of quality expressions
No longer believes in verbal repression
For someone who hardly spoke words for a while
He’s chatting and singing with precious beguile

The other day when mom wasn’t feeling her best
She was taking a nap and getting some rest
When Joseph came in tapped her on the head
“Mom, you’re so special” is just what he said

This kind of bragging can go on for so long
But no need to tell you, you all know this song
It’s the tune of our wondertwins, our magical pair
that remind us how blessings are constantly there

Happy 4th Birthday to the twosome from heaven
We'll be singing your praises till we’re three hundred and seven
Can’t wait to see what the next year has in store
We know for sure it will not be a bore.

PS- we know that our pacing is hardly consistent
And boy you blog fans sure are persistent
But we promise not to have all too much chutzpah
And keep you waiting until Joseph’s Bar Mitzvah.
